Asset Register Details

This window allows the user to register the details of the fixed asset and track their correct value and physical location. This keeps the record of fixed assets up to date.

How to record asset details

To get to this screen you go menu Accounts/Assets/Asset Register a screen like one below appears:

• Asset Reference: Fill in the code which you would like to use when referring to an asset, e.g., "00001"
• Description: Description is the narrative relating to the asset. There are three lines of boxes that can be used for this purpose, the first line is compulsory, but you can use the other 2 lines as well to enter the details of the item, e.g., "Heavy duty Lasserjet Printer", Model 2017
• Serial Number: This is a manufacturer's number which comes along with the product . Enter it into this box, e.g., "Sr-012220/001"
• Location/Employee:  This describes where the asset is located or to which employee it has been allocated, e.g., "Jacob".
• Date Purchased: The date of purchase is a compulsory entry and must be entered in this field, e.g., "01/01/2012". It's necessary to enter the details of when the asset was bought as this will help in the calculation of depreciation.
• Supplier Account: Select from the drop down box the supplier of the asset that you are registering. The supplier should have been registered at Accounts/Purchases and Sales/Creditors.
• Asset Group:  Select the category in which the asset falls from the drop down box. Asset groups are set at menu Support Files/Asset Groups.
